Resource identification

Before writing the Turtle serialization, each entity needs to be identified through a unique URI taken from the domain of the project. In the code beneath, this identifier is shortened through the declaration @base allowed by Turtle syntax. The following sections do not correspond to the description of the entire domain, but list the properties related to the letter to Bembo, the portrait by Titian and the autograph manoscript of the Orlando Furioso.

Work and Items

People and Places

RDF Production

The statements visualized in the conceptual model and the listed in the data description are then translated into a RDF Turtle serialization. Each entity has been identified and named with a URI related to the domain of the project, while the properties are translated according to the chosen ontologies. In addition, values are expressed through authorities (AAT for art historical lexicon, VIAF for people or institutions, Geonames for places). To describe the identity between these values and new entities, the property sameAs of the OWL ontology has been used.

With this formalization, statements can be written to describe the domain. This serialization has been verified thanks to IDLab Turtle Validator.

RDF Visualization

After the serialization, the domain can be finally visualized as a data model. The network of entities and properties is automatically drawn by RDF Grapher starting from the Turtle file.
